Lucy Brown is a British illustrator and artist whose work centres around creating delicate, feminine pieces inspired by nature. Having lived in the United States for over ten years as a costume designer her creative voice has evolved through works using coloured pencil on matte translucent paper.

In her recent illustrations, Lucy uses her design experience to portray character and stories, which is at the heart of all her work. Her hand drawn pieces use a realistic rendering style whilst offering a sense of whimsy and sensitivity to the visual narrative. Taking inspiration from the natural world, her intent is not to document but to find personality in wildlife. Combined with her traditional illustrative skills and love for colour and texture, Lucy’s visual poetics evoke and enchant. Her work can be gently laced with humour, other times slow and reminiscent. The end result is detailed works with unique charm.
